Great video John ! Watching this video reminded me of my school days when I had to face the wrath of Mrs. Joshi the same way you had ..Mr Peterson …

Hailing from Mumbai, India I had a subject called Marathi for my examinations which was my second language. Since I was very weak in that I just about managed to secure pass grades. I really wanted to do well in this subject so one day mustering sufficient courage I went to Mrs Joshi who was our Marathi teacher and asked her “ What should I do to excel in Marathi” And her answer really shocked me….

This is what she said “ Akhila you can never secure higher grades in Marathi. You are a Tamilian(my mother tongue) by birth and Tamilians cannot do well in Marathi. You should be happy that you have got pass grades. Don’t waste my time…..”

Her rude answer really shocked me…. That day I decided that I had to do something about it I got private tuitions from another Marathi teacher, put a lot of extra effort and commitment and I secured 76% in my final exams…. That was almost double then what I used to get and I was very thrilled at the results …

In a way I should thank Mrs Joshi for her remarks. It helped me… If she was not rude I would never have got that determined. I think John you have done a great job by exposing the Professor Petersons of todays world. Thank you for sharing your message. You and Vish are accomplishing a great task by putting this site together. I will be waiting for more videos….. Thanks again

Your story about Mr Peterson reminded me of a High School teacher that I had! Her name was Banjak and she was a math teacher from New York. She said they paid her big money to come teach us in Texas because we were ignorent. She was always insulting us and pushing us to the limit. She would give us homework every night and she never graded it! She would just look to see if we bothered to work the problems, if we did we got an A and if we didn’t F. I hated her so much along with all of my other classmates. But thanks to Mrs Banjak, looking back now she inspired me to do better! To prove to her that I was not ignorent because I was a Texan and She was the only teacher I ever had who pushed me enough to actually be able to understand allgebra. When that light bulb clicked on and I understood and asked myself ” why was I making something so simple be so hard?” I got so much confidence in myself that math became my favorite subject and the more challenging it was, the more I liked it. I went on to fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse and I don’t think I could have persued my dream without Mrs Banjak in my life when I was little. The woman I once despised has created the most impact in my life by giving me so much fight and confidence. I believe if they paid her big money to teach us, she well earned it! I guess what I’m trying to say is I think God puts people in our lives for reasons, some we think may not be so good at the time, but he always has a greater plan that we cannot always see then. Sometimes certain people come to just give us the courage to fight and push ourselves harder. Looking back now, I think Mrs Banjak was one of the best teachers I ever had.
Thanks for sharing your story, It made me think back and relive that moment in time when I was sitting in her class, and be able to see what she did for me and show my gratitude to her. I wish I could tell her that today. Brenda

When I was listening this short but very powerful video, I got goose bumps all over my body. Frankly, this is my second time listing this video, however I got a same goose bumps all over my body. Thank you, thank you and thank you for the powerful message!
All these years, I have been listening to people who are negative, discouraging and critical and unforfunately they are plenty around us. As a hindsight, I realize that these people helped me to be strong, to have fighting spirit and to be where I am . I also thank you to so many Mr. Perteson who has been in my life.

I really like the story of Napoleon and the Waterloo Battle, fight 5 min. It is truly inspiring! I toast for every 5 more minutes of my life!

And I shared this story with Korean!!

John, thank you for being you, marvelous you!

We must give thanks for all the Professor Petersons in our lives. I have found that I have learned my most valuable lessons about who I am from the “professors” on this wonderful journey called “Life”. Thanks for reminding me.

It is so easy to be discouraged by the negative opinions of those we look up to. I’m not sure, John, that I could overcome the shock as well as you did.

saw the video regarding The Lesson of Professor Peterson; this video came to me in a very special time. You know my friend, in my actual project I don’t feel happy, is very stressful, we have a lot of pressure and the relation with the client isvery hard. So I made a decision and within two weeks I am going to resign, perhaps you will be surprise because according to the video, the message is like Harrichan told, referring to Napoleon and the Waterloo Battle, fight 5 min. more, and it is true, but for me know it is important to make a go back to the basics things in my life, reorganize my thoughts and continue.

I am have a lot of stress right know, my actual position doesn’t allow me
to have much contact with my family and for me that is the important.

I’ve been thinking about the Lesson of the Professor Peterson, and I feel
that I am in the right way with my decision, perhaps you will be a little
bit confused because this is not about the lesson is, if we remembered that
your friend got a D in his paper, and he continue with his dream to be a
writer, that is important, but right know in my life I need a direction, go
back sit for a while a continue, I don’t know if you can understand and I
am sorry to bother you with my thoughts but I feel free to share with you
my impressions about the video, thanks and I’ll be waiting for the next
video and the material that you told me in your email.

Thanks again.

A very powerful lesson shared by a master. I loved this beautiful story and it reminds me of a message I stumbled upon years ago. The gist of it was this: What you think of me (or my work) is really none of my business. Belief and faith will get us through. Everything else is just an obstacle. Whether it strengthens us or knocks us down depends on the stuff we’re made of.
